AIGA Field Trip to Neyenesch Printers

Eleven students, primarily from the Advanced Typography and Portfolio class came to this meeting which included one student from the Page Layout Class. Neyenesch Printers, Inc. has been in the business since when they first setup shop back in 1899 in the basement of the Hotel Del Coronado. They use sheet fed offset presses ranging from small to 40″ wide format. The host for this event was Jane Mead who is the Sales Representative for Neyenesch Printers and has held this role with them for about 30 years since 1979. She really knows the printing business and was very helpful in answering some basic questions that graphic designers need to know to properly prepare their designs for printing. (more…)
Print Day
Join us in September to go behind the scenes of a working print shop. We will learn about different printing methods, and you will gain valuable tips in making the output process smoother: file preparation, color separations, creating documents for optimum output and paper options will be covered. Sustainability as it relates to FSC and recycling will also be covered.
